Toxic air pollution levels in Turkey threaten public health
A study measured sulfur dioxide and nitrogen dioxide in Samsun, Turkey, using special samplers for a year. They compared the sampler data with traditional air pollution measurements. The highest averages for sulfur dioxide and nitrogen dioxide were found at an industrial area. The peak monthly SO2 level was in August at one station, while November had the highest NO2 level at another station. Nitrogen dioxide levels dropped as the temperature rose. The sampler results matched well with continuous monitoring for nitrogen dioxide.
