The researchers wanted to see if feeding major carps rice polishing in semi-intensive ponds would help them grow better. They used two ponds, one with rice polishing as food and one without. The pond with rice polishing had significantly more fish production than the control pond. The fish in the treated pond grew 1.477 times more than those in the control pond, with a net fish production of 832.23 kg/ha/year compared to 563.50 kg/ha/year. The fish grew better during warmer months in both ponds.
