Effluent from tanneries and textile industries has polluted Challawa River in Nigeria. Water samples collected over a year showed high levels of pollutants like BOD, COD, and heavy metals, exceeding safe limits for aquatic life. The pollution was worse near the industries, with the control point upstream having the lowest levels. The study suggests urgent action to reduce effluent discharge into the river.
