New method extracts lipids from fish in 10 minutes, revolutionizing food industry.
A new fast and simple method has been developed to extract and purify lipids from frozen fish. The process takes only about 10 minutes and involves blending the tissue with a mix of chloroform and methanol. This creates two layers, with the chloroform layer containing all the lipids. By isolating this layer, a pure lipid extract can be obtained. This method has been successfully used on fish muscle and can be adapted for other tissues as well.
