New environmental assessment measures to protect urban areas from pollution.
The environmental assessment for the Tai Basin Urban Environment Project outlines measures to reduce negative impacts. During design and construction, steps like controlling water discharge, treating odorous gases, and managing noise will be taken. Temporary treatment facilities will be built to handle wastewater, and proper disposal of construction debris and contaminated soil will be ensured. During operation, emergency measures will prevent direct wastewater discharge in case of failures. Other measures include treating domestic wastewater before release and keeping work sites away from residential areas. Regular spraying of sites and roads, along with replanting trees, will also be done.
