New study reveals better flowability of lime-based desulfurization residues.
Residue from dry desulfurization of iron ore sinter plant off-gas was studied to understand its properties for handling and storage. Different sorbents were used, affecting the bulk density and flowability of the residues. Residues from lime-based desulfurization had higher density and better flowability compared to those from sodium bicarbonate. Flowability improved at higher stress levels, with shear tests being more reliable than other flowability indicators. Changing the desulfurization reagent may impact the handling of residues, so careful consideration is needed.
