Maize-fodder integration boosts yields and soil health in Ethiopia.
In western Ethiopia, planting certain types of grass and legumes with maize can increase fodder production without reducing maize grain yield. These forages also improve soil quality and can lead to higher overall crop and livestock productivity. In particular, planting Desmodium intortum and Stylosanthes hamata alongside maize can result in better yields and returns compared to traditional farming methods.
