Efficient HVAC control can save energy in buildings. A new simulation tool called QUICKcontrol was used to study energy savings in a Conference Centre. By adjusting fan scheduling, setpoints, and other controls, a potential energy saving of 744MWh per year was predicted. This could mean a 32% reduction in overall building energy use and a 58% decrease in HVAC system energy use. Implementing these control strategies could pay back the investment in less than 6 months.
