Cholangiocarcinoma Breakthrough: Targeting Slug Protein May Halt Deadly Spread
The study looked at a protein called Slug in a type of liver cancer called extrahepatic hilar cholangiocarcinoma (EHC). They found that high levels of Slug were linked to lower levels of another protein called E-cadherin, which is important for cell adhesion. By blocking Slug, they were able to increase E-cadherin levels and reduce cancer cell invasion. This suggests that targeting Slug could be a potential treatment for stopping the spread of EHC.
