Soybean growth thrives under stable salinity, struggles with sudden peaks.
Soybean growth was studied under stable and peak salinity conditions. Stable salinity levels greatly affected plant growth and reproduction, with high salinity preventing plants from reaching the reproductive phase. However, plants exposed to short peaks of salinity showed less impact on growth but had a significant decrease in yield. To achieve a good soybean yield, it is important to keep leaf chloride concentration below 1 mg per gram of dry matter.
