The researchers studied anchovy and horse mackerel eggs and larvae in the eastern Black Sea. They used plankton nets to collect samples and found high numbers of anchovy eggs compared to horse mackerel eggs. The surveys showed that anchovy and horse mackerel have different spawning periods, with anchovy spawning from May to September and horse mackerel from June to August. The mortality rates were higher for anchovy than for horse mackerel.
