Sesame Oil Cake Diet Boosts Growth of Mrigal Fish Fingerlings in Winter
The study aimed to see if cheaper plant proteins could replace fish meal in diets for mrigal fish and if winter feeding affected their growth. Four diets were tested, with one containing fish meal as a reference. Fish fed on sesame oil cake-based diet showed better growth, suggesting fish meal can be replaced. The fish also showed growth during winter months, which can help compensate for their slower growth compared to other carps if fed properly in colder months.
