Multilevel models are used to predict how long it will take for a patient to be readmitted to the hospital. The researchers used SAS PROC MIXED to analyze data on patients nested within hospitals. They found that both individual and hospital-level factors can affect the length of time before readmission. By including these factors in the model, they were able to better understand and predict inpatient readmission rates.
