Declining Fish Diversity in Nigerian Rivers Threatens Ecosystem Sustainability.
Fish diversity in three tributaries of River Ore in Nigeria was studied to understand the species present and their abundance. The researchers used traps and nets to catch fish and found 11 different species, with Clariids being the most common. The diversity of fish in the tributaries was low, likely due to pollution from nearby industries and urbanization. This suggests that conservation efforts are needed to protect the fish populations in the area.
