Reviving Balochistan's Rangelands: Community Efforts Lead to Improved Livestock Feed.
Rangelands in Balochistan, Pakistan are deteriorating due to poor management and overgrazing. A project in Manguchar aimed to improve these lands by involving the community. They protected areas from grazing, planted drought-resistant shrubs for winter grazing, and saw a significant increase in forage production compared to open range areas. The community also collected medicinal plants from the protected site. This shows that with community involvement and collaboration, rangeland improvement is possible.
