Mixing Fish Species Boosts Growth and Survival Rates in Polyculture Systems
The study looked at how well Indus Golden Mahseer fish grow and survive when raised with Indian major carps in a semi-intensive polyculture system. They tested two different combinations of fish species and compared them to a control group. The results showed that the Indus Golden Mahseer fish gained slightly more weight when raised with a specific mix of carps. The survival rate and feed conversion ratio of the Indus Golden Mahseer were better in one of the mixed groups compared to the control group. Overall, the Catla catla fish gained the most weight, while the Indus Golden Mahseer gained the least.
