High casein diet may lead to development of ideal male contraceptive.
Male rats were given a hormone blocker for 21 days and then studied. Rats on a low protein diet had higher stress hormone levels and lower testosterone levels. Rats on a high protein diet had lower stress hormone levels and higher testosterone levels. However, rats on the high protein diet still had reduced sperm production. This suggests that a high protein diet can protect against stress hormones and boost testosterone, but may not fully prevent sperm production issues caused by the hormone blocker.
