Optimal sowing date and irrigation levels boost wheat yield in Pakistan.
Sowing wheat earlier in November and giving it more water through irrigation can make it grow better and produce more grain. A study in Pakistan found that wheat planted in November with more water had bigger leaves and more dry matter than wheat planted in December with less water. The wheat planted in November with more water also produced a higher grain yield compared to the wheat planted in December with less water. This shows that planting wheat earlier and giving it more water can help increase wheat production in irrigated areas.
