Pond fertilization with broiler droppings boosts fat and protein in fish.
The study looked at how feeding broiler droppings to three types of fish in ponds affects their body composition. They found that as the nitrogen level in the water increased, the fish had more fat and protein in their bodies. The highest fat and protein levels were seen in Catla catla and Labeo rohita at a nitrogen level of 0.16g, while Cirrhina mrigala had the most fat and protein at lower nitrogen levels. This increase in fat and protein was linked to better food availability in the water, especially zooplankton.
