Albania's Land Use Changes Revealed: Urbanization Threatens Agricultural Sustainability.
This article presents a case study using GIS for land use planning in a commune in Albania. The researchers collected data on soil characteristics, land suitability for agriculture, and changes in land use over time. They found that most agricultural land is suitable for irrigable agriculture, with a significant portion converted to fallow land or non-agricultural use. New buildings have also been constructed on agricultural land. The study highlights the potential of GIS for effective land use planning in the area.
