New study reveals key to maximizing crop water use efficiency!
This study aimed to figure out how much water sugar beet crops need at different growth stages in a semi-arid area. The researchers measured soil moisture and used a method from the FAO to estimate water needs. They found that the crop needed more water at the beginning of the season, less in the middle, and a bit more towards the end. The method they used gave slightly different results compared to the FAO method, but overall, they were able to calculate the water needs of the sugar beet crop accurately.
