Accurate Runoff Predictions Unlock Sustainable Water Management for Farmers
The researchers developed a model to estimate runoff in a watershed using rainfall and soil moisture data. They used GIS technology to analyze the watershed's characteristics and created a model called Overland Time of Concentration (OTC). The model was tested in an agricultural watershed in India and was found to be effective in predicting daily runoff. The OTC model was compared to other standard models and was found to be a reliable tool for estimating runoff in different watersheds, even those without monitoring stations.
