Optimizing nitrogen application boosts wheat yield in western Iran's calcareous soils.
The study looked at how different amounts of nitrogen affected the growth of three types of wheat in western Iran. They found that using more nitrogen led to higher grain yield and better quality wheat. The Chamran wheat had the highest yield, while Dez had the lowest. The best results were seen with 160-240 kg/ha of nitrogen. More nitrogen increased the number of grains per spike and the overall yield, but too much nitrogen could decrease the number of spikes and grains.
