Sand filtration is a cost-effective method for treating wastewater in Iraq. By using sand filters, 76% of suspended solids can be removed, with the best results seen in the second stage of treatment. This helps reduce contamination in the effluent to very low levels, meeting international and local standards. Sand filtration also shows the ability to remove iron and toxic cadmium, making it a promising technology for improving wastewater treatment efficiency in the country.
