Financial motivations drive half of Catalonia's organic beef farms, study finds.
Organic beef farming in Catalonia was studied to understand the different types of farms. Researchers interviewed 37 farmers and found three main types: young farmers with intensive management, motivated farmers with guaranteed continuity, and discouraged farmers facing threats to their farming future. Half of the organic beef farms in Catalonia switch to organic production mainly for financial reasons to keep farming.
