The article discusses a new way of thinking about peace and security called human security. Instead of focusing on the state, human security looks at individuals as the main concern for security. This approach suggests that a people-centered understanding of security is more effective in addressing global vulnerabilities. Despite some criticism, many countries and organizations have embraced the idea of human security in their policies. In Africa, regional organizations like ECOWAS and SADC have already started incorporating human security principles into their frameworks.
