New Study Reveals Key Lime Requirement for Healthier Soil Quality! 🌱
The researchers studied soil acidity and lime requirement in Chickmaglur district, Karnataka. They analyzed 300 soil samples and found that most soils were sandy loam with low cation exchange capacity. The acidity of the soils depended on their pH levels. Calcium saturation in the soils varied from 14.1 to 35.2%, and base saturation ranged from 25.3 to 44.4%. In hilly and southern transitional zones, lime additions based on exchangeable calcium method were effective, while in the central dry zone, lime additions based on SMP and double buffer method correlated well with soil properties.
