Climate change threatens vegetation growth on China's Loess Plateau.
The study looked at how vegetation in China's Loess Plateau changed from 1982 to 2011 due to climate change. They found that vegetation increased in semi-arid and semi-humid areas, but decreased in arid regions. Temperature helped plants grow in some areas, while rainfall was important in others. Changes in rainfall affected vegetation growth after about 15-18 months. Human activities also play a role in how vegetation responds to climate change on the Loess Plateau.
