The study looked at using power lines for communication, known as Power Line Communication (PLC). The researchers focused on using medium voltage PLC for long-distance communication. They developed a routing algorithm that helps in case of accidents by finding efficient routes. They also suggested an intelligent Composite Communication System for optimal routes during accidents. Testing showed that this system improved the efficiency and reliability of the power distribution network as a communication network.
