White clover boosts pasture yield and quality, transforming livestock farming.
White clover can significantly increase both the yield and quality of temporary hill pastures. By studying different combinations of white clover and grasses, researchers found that the variant with 60% white clover produced the highest dry matter yield. Over three years, pastures with white clover had a 15-18% increase in production compared to those without. The percentage of white clover in the pasture increased over time, leading to higher protein content, lower cellulose content, and better digestibility. This shows that including white clover in pasture mixtures can improve both quantity and quality of forage for grazing animals.
