Soil Study Reveals Key Factors Affecting Phosphate Levels in Northwest India.
Phosphate adsorption in soils of northwest India is influenced by factors like clay content, organic carbon, and Fe and Al levels. Soils with higher clay and extractable Fe tend to have lower P concentrations in solution. The combination of clay and Fe content explains most of the variations in adsorbed and solution P. Soils with more total Fe and Al, organic carbon, and clay have higher buffering capacity. The residual effect of P-fertilizer reduces P sorption in soils.
