Polluted Groundwater Threatens Drinking and Irrigation in Kerala's Paddy Heartland
Groundwater quality in a paddy-dominated agricultural river basin in Kerala, India was studied to ensure safe consumption and sustainable use. Water samples from shallow aquifers were analyzed for potential contamination from natural and human activities. The goal was to assess if the water met safety standards for drinking and irrigation. The study focused on the Palakkad and Chittur taluks of the Bharathapuzha river basin. The findings will help in managing groundwater resources to prevent pollution and maintain a clean environment for all.
