Sulfur dioxide emissions slashed by 94.4% with new scrubber system
A wet scrubber system was used to reduce sulfur dioxide emissions during sulfuric acid production. The system sprayed water on the gas stream, passed it through a mesh with flowing water, and removed any remaining liquid with a mist eliminator. The contaminated water was treated and the system reduced emissions by 94.4%, from 46.2 to 2.6 pounds per hour.
