Massive Tectonic Shifts Unlock Untapped Oil and Gas Reserves in Oklahoma
The Wichita uplift in southwest Oklahoma was formed by ancient geological forces, causing rocks to fold and shift. The Frontal fault zone separates the uplift from the Anadarko basin, with significant horizontal and vertical movement. Oil and gas are mainly found in anticlinal crests within the rocks. The basin's deposition was influenced by thrust loading from the uplift during the Pennsylvanian period.
