River morphology drastically impacts bedload transport predictions.
Bedload transport in rivers is influenced by the shape of the riverbed. Different riverbed shapes affect how sediment moves with water flow. Researchers studied various riverbed types (like step-pool, plane bed, riffle-pool, braiding, and sand beds) to see how they impact sediment transport. They found that larger rivers deviate more from standard sediment transport patterns compared to narrow streams. The type of riverbed, such as step-pools or riffle-pools, also affects sediment transport differently. In sand bed rivers, the shape of the riverbed has minimal impact on sediment transport due to high water flow.
