Organic Nutrient Management Boosts Maize-Groundnut Sustainability in Karnataka Alfisols.
Organic farming methods were tested in maize-groundnut systems in Karnataka to improve soil productivity and crop yield. Different treatments were compared, with a mix of organic and inorganic nutrients showing the best results. After a few years of conversion, the system equivalent yield increased significantly. By using organic nutrient sources, the sustainability of the maize-groundnut cropping system was achieved. Maize and groundnut are important crops in Karnataka, but their productivity is low due to poor nutrient management. The study aimed to develop organic farming packages for these crops, focusing on improving soil health and yield.
