Fruit thinning method boosts nectarine yield and size significantly.
The study looked at how different methods of thinning fruit on nectarine trees affected growth and fruit quality. They tested hand thinning and chemical treatments on May Fire nectarine trees in an orchard in Himachal Pradesh. The results showed that using NAA at 40 ppm led to better fruit thinning, higher quality fruits, and bigger fruit size. Hand thinning to keep 3 fruits per shoot resulted in increased shoot growth and tree volume. Overall, NAA at 40 ppm was the most effective treatment for improving fruit yield and quality.
