Net Zero Energy Buildings and Fresh Water from Solar Collectors
A solar prototype in Boussaâda can produce fresh water and power a net zero energy building using a hybrid PV/T water solar collector. Passive solar techniques reduce energy needs, with energy savings even before using active solar systems. The collector can cover energy requirements, achieving high solar thermal fractions for hot water. Solar electricity can meet needs for hot water, air conditioning, heating, lighting, and household equipment. The collector also boosts solar still production by almost three times compared to passive solar stills.
