URAA: International Agreement to Combat Agricultural Trade Distortions and Surpluses
The Uruguay Round Agreement on Agriculture aimed to set rules for international trade in agricultural products. It was created because some countries were using subsidies and trade barriers that affected global markets. The agreement tried to limit practices that led to oversupply and low prices in the market. Despite its ambitious goals, the agreement did not lead to a big increase in trade or boost the US's share of agricultural exports.
