Income inequality rises in India as urban salaries drive disparity growth.
The study looked at income inequality in India from 2004 to 2012. It found that income inequality slightly increased during this time in both urban and rural areas. In cities, regular salaries played a big role in income and inequality. In rural areas, farm income was the main source of income and inequality, followed by salaries. Regular salaries made inequality worse, while wages from farming and casual work made it better.
