Intercropping maize and mungbean boosts yield and water efficiency in India.
A study in West Bengal, India looked at how different irrigation levels and planting combinations of maize and mungbean affected growth and yield. They found that using more water led to higher crop yields, especially when maize and mungbean were planted together in a 3:2 row ratio. This combination was more profitable than growing maize alone. Intercropping the two crops also helped save water and increase land productivity. Overall, planting maize and mungbean together in a specific ratio with proper irrigation can lead to better crop yields and profits in this region.
