New soil prediction method revolutionizes water management in arid regions!
Pedotransfer functions were developed to predict soil hydraulic conductivity in medium texture soils of a semi-arid region using easily available soil properties. The study found that soil particle fractions, bulk density, total soil porosity, and soil water content were key factors in predicting hydraulic conductivity. Chemical attributes like cation exchange capacity, organic matter content, and calcium carbonate equivalent also played a role. The predictions were accurate for most applied tensions, except for tensions of 0.1 m and 0.03 m, which were less accurate.
