New chemical combo slashes invasive weed growth in non-crop areas!
Researchers conducted field trials to find effective ways to control weeds like Cyperus rotundus and Cynodon dactylon. They tested different doses of glyphosate herbicide alone and with additives like ammonium sulphate and 2,4-D. They also tried using polyethylene mulching to enhance the herbicide's effectiveness. The best treatment was a repeat application of glyphosate at a lower dose, which reduced the number of Cyperus shoots. Combining glyphosate with ammonium sulphate significantly reduced regrowth of both Cyperus and Cynodon. However, mulching with PE sheets alone was not effective in preventing regrowth of the weeds.
