Heat treatment boosts wheat straw nutrition for sustainable agriculture.
The researchers looked at how different treatments, like heating and inoculation with Pleurotus ostreatus (a type of mushroom), affected the breakdown of wheat straw. They found that all treated samples had more biomass compared to untreated straw. The straw that was heated had the highest recovery of digestible material, making it more nutritious. Overall, steamed wheat straw seemed to be the best in terms of nutritional value.
