Sulphate movement in Indian soils impacted by agricultural practices.
The movement of sulphate in Indian soils was studied using a lab experiment. Sulphate tagged with 35S was added to different soils, and its movement was tracked. In some soils, the depth affected the movement of sulphate, while in others, the addition of organic matter, calcium carbonate, and phosphate had an impact. The total recovery of sulphate was highest with calcium carbonate and lowest with organic matter. The recovery percentage varied among different soil types, with Vertisol showing the highest recovery and Oxisol the lowest.
