Groundnut haulms boost milk production in lactating cows without adverse effects.
Groundnut haulms can replace wheat straw in the diet of lactating cows without affecting milk production. In this study, lactating Gir cows were fed different levels of groundnut haulms along with other feed. The cows enjoyed eating the groundnut haulms, and their nutrient intake and milk production remained the same across all groups. The researchers found that groundnut haulms are a good alternative roughage for cows, containing no harmful substances and being well-liked by the animals. This means that farmers can use groundnut haulms to feed their cows without worrying about negative effects on milk production.
