Revolutionizing fish yield in Assam ponds: 6x more profit with simple changes!
Experiments in Assam ponds showed that adding lime, fertilizer, and feeding fish can increase fish production by over six times. Using cow dung and N-P-K fertilizer in limed ponds was more cost-effective than feeding with mustard oil-cake. A mix of Catla catla, Labeo rohita, and Cirrhinus mrigala gave better yields with oil-cake fertilizer, while a mix of Catla catla, Labeo rohita, and Cyprinus carpio var. communis did better with alternate day feeding. Catla fish grew the fastest, and scale carp grew faster than mrigal. Growth of catla, rohu, and mrigal slowed down in winter.
