Participating in GLOBE programme boosts environmental awareness and action.
The study looked at whether joining an environmental education program called GLOBE made students more aware of environmental issues and led them to act more responsibly towards the environment. They compared 22 GLOBE participants with 24 non-participants in Grade 8. The results showed that GLOBE participants cared more about the environment and took more positive actions compared to non-participants. Surprisingly, GLOBE participants did not receive more environmental information than non-participants. Gender and location did not affect the results. The study suggests that future research should focus on why students choose to join or not join the GLOBE program.
