Unlocking Rice Soil Potassium Boosts Crop Yields and Food Security
The study looked at how potassium behaves in different types of rice soils in West Bengal. They added varying amounts of potassium to the soils and found that more potassium was fixed by the soil as the amount of added potassium increased. However, the percentage of added potassium that was fixed decreased with higher levels of added potassium. Soils with different types of minerals behaved differently, with some soils fixing more potassium than others. The researchers also found that the amount of fertilizer potassium needed to increase the available potassium in the soil varied between soil types.
