Organic manures boost soil fertility and crop yield in rice-wheat system.
A study at Punjab Agricultural University looked at how using organic manures and crop residues with chemical fertilizers affects soil fertility and crop yield in a rice-wheat system. After 8 years, they found that adding crop residues and organic manures increased soil organic carbon content. This combination also boosted the availability of important nutrients like nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, sulfur, and micronutrients in the soil compared to using only chemical fertilizers.
